Overview

Ofcom is the independent regulator and competition authority for the UK communications sectors and we are globally respected for the work we do. We regulate the TV and radio sectors, fixed line and mobile telecoms, postal services, plus the airwaves over which wireless devices operate, always with the aim of furthering the interests of UK citizens and consumers.

Our Spectrum Group works at the forefront of the digital revolution. By applying expertise in advanced wireless technology they are equipped to tackle complex problems across a range of sectors. These sectors can be essential to UK’s economy and people’s daily lives – covering everything from mobile, TV and air traffic control to space exploration.

Our highly-skilled team consists of engineering experts from academia and industry as well as regulatory specialists who contribute to international technical standards bodies.

As part of this dynamic team, you would have the opportunity to work on emerging technologies – like 5G and the Internet of Things – and day-to-day technical issues, such as mobile coverage or radio interference. You would also influence national and international spectrum policy by providing technical advice.
